What to Expect

Laying the foundation

Chiropractic care is like building a house - certain things have to happen in a particular sequence in order for everything to stand strong and work correctly. When building a house, if you attempt  to put up your walls before you have a solid foundation, the walls would be weak and eventually collapse. If you put on your roof before the walls were stable, you would run into a similar problem. The is also true for your spine.  The evaluations done by Dr. Kanzic are designed to find underlying structural problems that cause back or neck pain, arm or sciatic pain, loss of mobility and degeneration.

Expect a thorough history and examination.  It is likely that a recommendation for x-rays will follow.  If you have films or MRI/CT scans from your previous doctor, please bring them with you.  The more information that Dr. Kanzic has about you, the sooner your pain puzzle can be solved.

Addressing and resolving your spinal concerns requires 3 phases of care.  They are as follows:

Phase 1:   Eliminating Pain and Restoring Motion

It is during this initial phase of care that lost motion  in your back and neck begin to improve.   A decrease in symptoms is expected as well.   However, symptoms represent the "tip of the iceberg" in all health issues spinal and general health.  This is the most intensive phase of care.

Phase 2:   Spinal Change and Strengthening

The mobility you gain in Phase 1 will continue to increase and symptoms will decrease. during this phase you will begin to re-establish normal spinal alignment, motion and stability.  Home exercise will be recommended and in some instances physical therapy may be appropriate.  Treatment frequency varies at this point depending of your progress.

Phase 3:   Maintenance of Spinal Health

Once your have reached your desired goals it is recommended that you are seen for periodic adjustments to avoid problems in the future..
